Top clash in the South of France as two top sides meet. Champions League is on the cards for both sides but they cannot drop points at this stage. Who will come out on top?
Marseille v Lyon – Orange Velodrome 20:45 CET
Team News:
Clean bill of health for Marseille.
Fofana, Moreira and Nuamah are still out for Lyon. Mangala and Hateboer are both back available.
Formations:
4-1-4-1 for Marseille under new coach Habib Beye. He has only had one match with it and they were well beaten at Brest so may want to look at the 3-4-2-1 they have used most of the season.
4-2-3-1 for Lyon but they have rotated formations a lot. Overloading the wide areas with inverted wingers. They can also move the ball about looking for spaces.
Statistics:
Referee: Jerome Brisard (Average cards 3.82 Yellow 0.23 Red)
Match Preview:
Marseille are 4th in Ligue 1, but are only three points ahead of Lille in the race for top four. Home form is good with 7 wins from 11 games. Recent all competition form is poor though and resulted in the sack for de Zerbi. They have only won once in the last six games with 2 draws and 3 losses.
Lyon are 8 points ahead of Lille outside the Champions League places. Away form for them is ok with 5 wins from 12 games. All competitions form for them was amazing until the last game. They were on a 13 match winning streak that went all the way back to early December. That ended at a 3-1 loss at Strasbourg last match.
Betting Preview:
Two very open sides so we should expect goals for sure. Match betting is hard to nail down here as Marseille are in a bit of turmoil added to a new manager. Take both teams score Yes.
