Lyon are hanging on to the coattails of PSG and Lens in Ligue 1. A Champions League spot is in their grasp. Can they dispatch Nice and move up?
Lyon v Nice – Groupama Stadium 20:45 CET
Team News:
Lyon miss superstar Endrick due to suspension. Also out are Afonso Moreira, Ruben Kluivert, Nicolas Tagliafico and Malick Fofana.
Nice will miss Moise Bombito here. They have a few doubts with Morgan Sanson, Mohamed Ali Cho and Tiago Gouveia all not fully fit, but they should be in squad.
Formations:
4-3-3 in recent weeks for Lyon which is slight amendment to Fonseca’s preferred 4-2-3-1 however with the suspension of Endrick they may move back to the original format.
4-2-3-1 for Nice but they too like to tinker with the set-up style.
Statistics:
Referee: Thomas Leonard (Average cards 3.87 Yellow 0.16 Red)
Match Preview:
Lyon come into this match on a six‑game winning run in Ligue 1 and sit third, three points ahead of Marseille. Their home form has been strong with eight wins from ten. Nice, meanwhile, are 14th but hold a nine‑point cushion above the relegation playoff. Their away record is poor, with only two wins from ten, though recent form is improving with three victories in their last five across all competitions. They were, however, knocked out of the Europa League after finishing 33rd in the group.
Betting Preview:
Lyon are in top form coming into this one having won their last 12 successive matches across three different competitions! The loss of Endrick is obviously high but with confidence skyrocketing and Nice not very good on the road a home win is the best option.
