It’s usually a classic battle when Liverpool take on Man City. The last match though was a procession as City destroyed Liverpool 3-0. Can The Reds take revenge?

Liverpool v Man City – Anfield 17:30 CET

Team News:

No new injury worries for Liverpool who are still without defenders Bradley and Frimpong plus striker Isak. Joe Gomez is possibly fit, but he shouldn’t start here. One of Endo, Jones or Szoboszlai will have to fill in at right back.

Man City have a lengthy injury list with Stones, Gvardiol, Savinho and Doku all out. Some doubts too with Bernado Silva, Dias and Cherki all not 100% fit.

Formations:

4-2-3-1 for Liverpool although we may some slightly defensive player positioning for this one. Szoboszlai is a very competent right back but his energy is missed in midfield when he lines up at the back.

4-1-4-1 for Man City lately with Rodri or Gonzalez sitting just in front of the defence. Expect City to dominate the possession but they miss a key component with Doku out. He has terrorised Liverpool down the left wing in recent years.

Statistics:

Referee: Craig Pawson (Average cards 3.71 Yellow 0.09 Red per game)

Match Preview:

Liverpool have recently found their stride, recording two victories and netting ten goals in dominant performances against Newcastle and Qarabag. They enter this match eight points behind City and currently sit sixth in the table. With the race for the top five wide open, as many as eight teams could realistically be in the mix. Meanwhile, Man City trail Arsenal by six points, a gap that could extend to nine by kick-off.

Betting Preview:

Liverpool looks much more like their own selves after two confidence boosting wins. With the Anfield crowd sure to be in full voice, they know they’ll need to be at their peak. City, meanwhile, have shown vulnerability with recent defeats to Manchester United and Bodo/Glimt, proving they can be exposed. Liverpool may look to replicate United’s successful 2-0 approach, and with both sides capable of scoring, a game with goals — including both teams to score or over 2.5 — feels highly likely.
