Just 6 points separate these two sides in contrasting form. Can Roma legend de Rossi upset his rivals on a return to the capital city?
Lazio v Genoa – Stadio Olympico 20:45 CET
Team News:
Lazio are still recovering from the sales of two key men FW Valentin Castellanos and CM Matteo Guendouzi. They only have one new injury doubt and that is Nicolo Rovella (key CM) who was expected back for last match at Lecce but that was too soon.
Genoa have key CB Leo Ostigard back from injury. Not only vital to defence he is 2nd top scorer in squad. New loan signing, the attacking midfielder Tommaso Baldanzi is a doubt here.
Formations:
4-3-3 in Serie A with a solid defensive base but they are severely lacking in creativity. More so with the fire sale they have had recently losing several key players.
4-2-3-1 at the start of the season but has evolved into 3-5-2 for Genoa which has seen an uptick in their form under new boss Daniele de Rossi.
Statistics:
Referee: Luca Zufferli (Average cards 4.02 Yellow 0.21 Red per game)
Match Preview:
Only 1 win in the last 7 for Lazio and a failure to score in three of the last four home games. They do however have one the strongest defenses with most clean sheets in the league. Lazio will look to boss possession deep in Genoa territory. The visitors are in decent form and have steadily moved away from the relegation zone. Genoa will look to counter Lazio quickly but both sides could cancel each other out.
Betting Preview:
Roma legend De Rossi will want to get one over the eternal rivals Lazio. Maurizio Sarri’s team are struggling now though and are trying to get out of a very poor run of results. The draw looks a good option in this tight encounter.
