Match Time Completed 29/01/2026
Match on:

Can Celtic take all three points against an inept Utrecht side? The Dutch will offer little resistance here and should roll over, or will they?

UEFA Europa League – Celtic Park 21:00 CET

Team News:

Celtic are without starting CM Reo Hatate due to suspension. CB Cameron Carter-Vickers, FW Kelechi Iheanacho and LB Marcelo Saracchi are all injured. LB Kieren Tierney is a doubt and will be missed if absent.

Utrecht are without top scorer Victor Jensen and FW David Min. Mike Eerdhuijzen is not likely to be risked after coming off at the weekend.

Formations:

4-3-3 in SPL since Martin O’Neil returned for his 2nd stint has manager, however, did go 4-2-3-1 in the away draw at Bologna to tighten things up.

4-2-3-1 mainly used in Europe but Utrecht have swapped formation for each of the last half dozen games. It hasn’t helped them as they are on a poor run.

Statistics:

Referee: Jasper Vergoote (Average cards 3.94 Yellow 0.13 Red per game)

Match Preview:

Celtic are in the last spot for qualification. A win is needed although a draw might be enough (would need 3 other teams not winning) Celtic are unbeaten since the return of Martin O’Neil with 3 wins and 2 draws. Utrecht are in terrible form at home and in Europe.  Five straight losses leading into this one and just one win in 10 games.

Betting Preview:

At Celtic Park with the roof coming off due to the noise levels expect a poor Utrecht side to wilt. Martin O’Neil should never have been stepped down in December. He will have his boys flying for this one. Easy win for Celtic.
