Liverpool and Newcastle always play out rollercoaster matches. Under the lights at Anfield expect another titanic clash, who will prevail?

Liverpool v Newcastle – Anfield 21:00 CET

Team News:

Liverpool have mixed injury news with RB/RW Jeremie Frimpong joining Conor Bradley (RB) and Joe Gomez (RB/CB) out of the backline. With no available RB Wataru Endo or more likely Dominik Szoboszlai will slot in there. Ibrahima Konate is back after family bereavement while Curtis Jones (CM) is available after sickness.

Newcastle is without starting CB Fabian Schar and attacker Joelinton. Key right midfielder Jacob Murphy is back after injury.

Formations:

4-2-3-1 is the usual go to for Liverpool this season but we could see the 4-3-3 out here. Liverpool have few options at the back and for me the loss of Szoboszlai in the midfield to shore up the defence is a mistake.

4-3-3 for vast majority of games for Newcastle. They will look to utilize pace in wide areas with Gordon, Barnes or Murphy supplying either Woltermade or Wissa. With height they are a danger from corners and long throw ins.

Statistics:

Referee: Simon Hooper (Average cards 3.41 Yellow 0.09 Red per game)

Match Preview:

Expect blood and thunder in this game as Newcastle seem to have ramped up their hatred of The Reds especially since the Isak transfer. Liverpool have not won in 5 EPL games so need to build on the midweek 6-0 thrashing of Qarabag in UCL. Newcastle are just three points behind the home side. They had a harder task in midweek as they chased around PSG for 90 minutes.

Betting Preview:

Liverpool under the lights in a high-octane clash with Newcastle. High cards is a decent bet here as both sides will give no quarter. Very tough game to pick a winner as neither side is on top form. Draw is a valid option at big prices.
