Porto v Rangers

Match Time Completed 29/01/2026
Match on:

Porto need a win and have the perfect opposition in an under-par Rangers team. Can the Scots regain some pride and take any points here?

UEFA Europa League – Estadio do Dragao 21:00 CET

Team News:

Porto have doubts over attacker Luuk de Jong and centre back Nehuen Perez but neither are starters.

Rangers have a long list of absentees here. Utility man Dujon Sterling, DM Connor Barron and AM Andreas Skov Olsen and DM Chukwani are not registered to play having signed after the deadline. Doubts too over striker Youssef Chermiti who may not be risked here.

Formations:

4-3-3 in every match this season. Have had a long season with FIFA Club World Cup and the league battle plus three separate cup competitions.

4-2-3-1 mainly used in Europe but Rangers may have to mix it up here as they will likely rotate heavily from their last few competitive matches.

Statistics:

Referee: Jasper Vergoote (Average cards 3.94 Yellow 0.13 Red per game)

Match Preview:

All should be one way traffic as Porto look for the win to take them to top 8. Rangers are out and have nothing but pride to play for. A long list of unavailable players doesn’t help their cause either.

Betting Preview:

Odds are very short on Porto as you would expect. Even if both sides were in with a shout of qualifying you would have to fancy the Portuguese giants. Rangers are traditionally bad travellers on the continent. Porto to go ahead early and close out the match for a win is a decent option.
