Forest host Liverpool in a enticing clash of two teams at either end of the table. Who will come out on top?
Nottingham Forest v Liverpool – City Ground 15:00 CET
Team News:
Forest are without Savona, Wood and Boly with keeper Selz still struggling and likely out.
Liverpool have no new injury worries with same missing men. Isak, Bradley, Frimpong and Endo all out. Key man Szoboszlai returns after suspension.
Formations:
4-2-3-1 is the only formation used by Forests 4th manager of the season. They played a super game in Turkey so should continue with it.
4-2-3-1 for Liverpool but a decision to be made at right back. Jones played last match and was influential, even scoring so either him or Szoboszlai to slot in.
Statistics:
Referee: Anthony Taylor (Average cards 3.77 Yellow 0.10 Red)
Match Preview:
Forest find themselves battling relegation, which is surprising given the quality within their squad. Frequent managerial changes (four in just half a season) have done little to bring stability, and they sit only three points clear of West Ham. Their home form has been poor, with just three wins from 13 matches. However, recent results offer promise: three wins, two draws, and only one defeat. Confidence is also high after a commanding 3–0 victory away to Fenerbahce in Istanbul.
Liverpool have been slowly improving over recent weeks. They sit in 6th place and are just 2 points behind Chelsea in 5th place, which should yield a Champions League place next season. Away form for them is ok with 5 wins from 13 games. Recent form is great with 4 wins from 5 with the only blip a 2-1 loss to Man City in which they played well overall.
Betting Preview:
Liverpool have not managed to beat Forest in the last three matches. The home side looked very strong on Thursday as they battered a decent Fenerbahce side in Istanbul. That may affect energy levels here though. Liverpool are fully charged after a rare full week off. Liverpool to nick the win in tight circumstances. Liverpool by 1 goal is an option at bigger prices.
